30th June 2021
We have been informed by Yorkshire Water that essential urgent work needs to be carried out tomorrow afternoon which is likely to disrupt the School’s water supply. The times we have been given are 12.00 midday to 3.00 p.m. Thursday 1st July.
Our Health and Safety Director at the Local Authority has advised that we have no option in this matter and that, if this work goes ahead, we will not be able to keep school open for health and safety / hygiene reasons, particularly in the current times.
We have requested that Yorkshire Water reschedule/delay the work to avoid the massive disruptions to our parents and to children’s learning on a school day, but despite several telephone calls, they have not been able to give us an answer, saying the matter has been escalated to their Governing Board and they are awaiting a decision.
We realise the enormous implications this will have on all our families. To try and help you to pre-plan we are letting you know now that there is a possibility of an afternoon closure, which could either be 12.00 midday or 1.00 p.m. tomorrow, depending on the answer we get. Please could you make provisional alternative arrangements for your child/ren in case we do have to close.
PLEASE NOTE, THE Y4 CAMPING RESIDENTIAL WILL STILL GO AHEAD AS THE CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ON SITE DURING THE DISRUPTION.
Yorkshire Water have promised to let us know by 3pm today. We let you know the outcome as soon as we possibly can.
