Y5 Danelaw Viking Trip
Date: 26th Sep 2020 @ 6:09pm
On Tuesday, Class 5 had a fantastic day in role as Vikings at the Danelaw Viking Centre.
On arrival, the children were split into two Viking families, with a mother and a father for each group. They dressed in traditional Viking tunics and spent the day performing traditional Viking activities:
- Collecting fire wood
- Grinding grain to make flour
- Training to be Viking guards
- Modelling oil lamps out of clay
- Hoeing the soil to prepare it for seeding
Best of all, the teachers were in role as slaves for the day!
We learned that Vikings were traders, raiders, farmers, settlers and craftsmen.
